ABOUT DAXIO
*"The voidsent, a being named Daxio (whom we currently have no record of), was summoned, either purposefully or accidentally, by Chichito Chito during the course of her research. This has resulted in numerous markings on her, most notably a change in coloration to her left eye and the appearance of "void scars" across her face.
*"As of this examination, we are unable to determine where this voidsent has disappeared to since its summoning, nor is Chichito Chito willing to impart any information as to its origins or current whereabouts."~ T'xan
TALES OF TRAVEL
Perusing the Library
Chichito Chito had spent the last few days in the Great Gubal Library, searching through some of the tomes in the restricted section. After decades of being abandoned, the Library had become infested with all manner of monsters, so what little gil she had left was spent hiring a group of adventurers to clear the Library before she entered. She sat on the floor, flipping through the pages of a tome she had in her lap before slamming it closed. She pushed it off her lap and stood, giving a frustrated shout as she shoved over another stack of books she had previously looked through."It's fine to be upset, but don't take it out on the Library. It only holds the books. It wasn't responsible for putting it in here," her own voice called out to her. She shot a glare to the duplicate that sat on the stool nearby, swinging its short legs, grinning at Chichito."I'm mad because we're so close, Daxio," Chichito said to the duplicate, looking around at shelves of books, easily ten times her height. "My research is here. It has to be. Anything that was considered a 'dangerous' topic was brought here, but at this rate, it'll take years to go through every tome to find it."Her duplicate, the voidsent named Daxio, frowned. "Neither of us have that kind of time." They hopped off the stool, walking toward Chichito. "I suppose I can help you. For a price, that is.""How do you plan on doing that?" the Lalafell asked, already on the defensive.Daxio waved their arm. "Look around you. There's thousands of books." The voidsent leaned forward, almost nose to nose with Chichito. "How many of them would have a dozen years of your aetheric stink on them?"Chichito looked away from Daxio, rubbing at her face, a habit she picked up around the same time her void scars started to show. "You know I hate that term. Still, you bring up a valid point." She gazed again at the bookcases, fingers idly rubbing over some of the void scarring on her face. "How much?""A bell," Daxio said, that grin still on her... IT'S face. "Plenty of time to peruse.""A bell?!" Chichito repeated. "I'd be done and out of here in much less than that. Five minutes.""Five minutes wouldn't get you five fulms. I know how slow of a reader you are. Half a bell.""If all I'm looking for is my aether, I don't need to read anything. A quarter-bell and no further. I still remember that 'stink' comment."Daxio's smile grew wider, extending their left hand. "A quarter-bell. Agreed."Chichito took the hand of the voidsent and shook it, Daxio giving her that trademark smile before jabbing her in the left eye with its free hand. The Lalafell's head jerked back, giving a slight shout, clutching at her eye for a moment while the pain subsided. When she finally recovered and removed her hand, her eye glowed a deep violet, picking up traces of her aether from where she had been over the past couple of days."Fifteen minutes," she heard in the back of her head, Daxio's true voice coming out. "Clock's ticking."
